Scale Dependency of the Effective Matrix Diffusion Coefficient
نویسنده
چکیده
It has been recognized that matrix diffusion is an important process for retarding solute transport in fractured rock. Based on analyses of tracer transport data from a number of field tests, we demonstrate that the effective matrix-diffusion coefficient may be scaledependent and generally increases with test scale. A preliminary theoretical explanation of this scale dependency is also presented, based on the hypothesis that solute travel paths within a fracture network are fractals.

Preconditioned Generalized Minimal Residual Method for Solving Fractional Advection-Diffusion Equation
Introduction Fractional differential equations (FDEs) have attracted much attention and have been widely used in the fields of finance, physics, image processing, and biology, etc. It is not always possible to find an analytical solution for such equations. The approximate solution or numerical scheme may be a good approach, particularly, the schemes in numerical linear algebra for solving ...

Diffusion coefficient is one of the parameters which can describe the rate of chloride ion diffusion in concrete. This can be obtained by the chloride ion profile. By determining this factor, one can predict when the chloride ion concentration on the reinforcement surface reaches a critical value, and the cover tickness which is needed for preventing corrosion. Time and distance dependency of ...

A New Approach to Image Denoising based on Diffusion-MLP-LMMSE Scheme
In this paper, diffusion wavelet-based multiscale linear minimum mean square-error estimation (LMMSE) scheme for image denoising in conjunction to neural network is proposed, and the determination of the optimal wavelet basis with respect to the proposed scheme is also discussed. Genrally ,the over complete wavelet expansion (OWE) is more effective than the orthogonal wavelet transform (OWT) sp...
متن کاملMoisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)
In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...
